How to Take 360 Jewelry Videos for Etsy with GemLightbox

In case you haven’t noticed, you can now include product videos to your Etsy product listings. So, stick with us, and we’ll show you how to take 360 jewelry videos in one click using just your smartphone and the GemLightbox.

From beta test in June 2020 to official launch in December, Etsy has officially made listing videos visible to shoppers. As Etsy mentioned, product videos clarify and inspire, which help you appeal more to the shoppers. Indeed, product videos contextualize your products. It aids potential buyers to envision how those products could play a role in their lives and guard them against risks. Like images, videos provide an increased transparency that establishes shoppers’ trust and confidence.

Research suggested a 5 to 40% increase in sales for businesses that adopted the 360 product videos in the last ten years. This isn’t surprising at all, given that 360 product photography and videos peaked over 15 years ago. Further, shoppers are 144% more likely to buy a product after watching a video than other types of content.

There’s no denying those figures. Even Etsy saw that. 360 jewelry videos offer you more advantages that can truly transform your sales and your shoppers’ experience.

How to Take 360 Jewelry Videos for Etsy with GemLightbox

Nothing fancy-schmancy. Here are the tools we used for this tutorial.

• GemLightbox, turntable & aerial set
• GemLightbox app
• iPhone XS

Step 1. Turn on the GemLightbox and remove the front reflector cover.

First, power up the GemLightbox and remove the front reflector cover. For this tutorial, the turntable is already placed inside. You can watch the complete GemLightbox turntable setup here.

Step 2. Place your jewelry inside the GemLightbox.

Next, place the jewelry inside the GemLightbox. Ensure that the jewelry is centered so that it stays in place when the turntable rotates.

For this tutorial, we captured 360 jewelry videos of an opal bangle, an opal pendant, and a pair of earrings from the Etsy shop, Sirocca Jewellery.

Take note that instead of using the standard GemLightbox turntable, we used the GemLightbox Aerial for shooting the pendant and earrings. Aerial enables you to capture 360 jewelry videos and photos of long pieces of jewelry, like necklaces and dangle earrings, in style.

As you can see, the GemLightbox, turntable, and aerial set comes with appropriate necklace and earring holders that allow you to show your jewelry from all angles.

Step 3. Position your smartphone and open the GemLightbox app.

Then, put back the front reflector cover and position your smartphone in front. On your smartphone, open the GemLightbox app and connect via Bluetooth.

The GemLightbox app is available to download on both the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store. It optimizes your smartphone camera settings for jewelry and diamond photography so that you can capture amazing 360 jewelry videos every single time.

From the app, go to video mode and adjust the settings. Don’t forget to zoom in or out, tap to focus, and adjust the brightness level, if necessary.

Step 4. Click to capture and save!

Finally, click to capture and remember to hit ‘save’ to save the video to the app gallery. From the gallery, select the videos you recorded and save them to your phone gallery so you can easily upload them to your Etsy store.
