Boosted by the confidence and success of IJF earlier in August, Picup Media decided to exhibit at the Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair in the following month of September. Organized by UBM, the September fair is the largest fair in the world with 3,690 exhibitors from 57 countries, over 59,000 reported visitors and covering two world-class venues.
As a much larger show, the Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair is divided into different sections. Picup Media was allocated a booth in the Jewellery Tools & Equipment section at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
HKCEC spans over 5 floors and every piece of floor space was utilized to its maximum potential. It was impossible for anyone to visit every single booth within a single day. Instead, visitors would utilize the full 5 days of the fair to complete their purchases.
The booth setup this time was the standard 3 by 3 meters, which dwarfed the IJF booth of 1 by 2 meters. A much larger booth space meant that more units could be placed on display. This time there were 4 GemLightbox units ready to be utilized through the whole fair period.
Once again, the Picup Media team did not know what to expect in the next 5 days of their international debut, however, they did anticipate very similar success with GemLightbox. Jewelry photography was an industry-wide issue there were no other solutions available that could provide the same level of quality with the minimum amount of effort. And their predictions were correct – GemLightbox was an instant hit for the hundreds and thousands of jewelry business owners, designers, and key decision-makers that stopped by.
It was an exciting moment for Picup Media and GemLightbox. They had finally broken through the international markets in such a brief period of time. What was also important was that Picup Media received feedback for improvement and different ideas to implement for the next installment of jewelry photography solutions. The GemLightbox Turntable is one of them.
