In this tutorial, we will show you how to photograph a unique diamond pendant necklace.

The pendant is studded with diamonds and sapphires on one side and an analog watch on the other side.

Pendant necklaces photography is extremely difficult as pendants dangle, and depending on the length of the necklace and the size of the pendant, one must also factor in the styling position that best represents the subject.

The two common major considerations when photographing a pendant necklace are the styling position and lighting; however, these considerations were eliminated by the fact that the GemLightbox has a lighting environment specifically designed for jewelry photography.

Let’s see how the GemLightbox Turntable and Aerial set captured a 360-video of this pendant necklace in just 15 seconds.

This unique diamond watch necklace was captured at the Original Miami Beach Antique Show 2020 with the GemLightbox Aerial and an iPhone XS, highlighting its dazzling features with no effort or retouching required.

1. Plug the cord onto the bottom of the Aerial device.

The GemLightbox Turntable and Aerial set is a plug-and-play device that allows you to just plug the cord to get the photo shoot running.  To begin, simply plug the cord onto the bottom of the Aerial device.

2. Connect the cord to the power socket and hang the pendant necklace inside the GemLightbox.

Connect the GemLightbox Aerial cord to the power socket

After plugging the cord onto the bottom of the Aerial device, connect the other end of the cord to the power socket on the internal, right-hand side of the box. When you’re already connected, put the pendant necklace on the necklace holder and hang it inside the GemLightbox.

The magnetic system on the very top of the Aerial device will keep the holder in place so that you can take your 360 videos without setbacks.

Pendant necklaces are best styled by suspending them and just letting them hang to give them a natural airy and open feel to the photograph or video. It also helps the viewers visualize how the pendant necklace would look on them when worn.

3. Put the photography table inside the GemLightbox.

After placing the pendant necklace inside, put back the photography table to cover the small magnet hole at the bottom of the GemLightbox. Once you’re all set, place the reflector cover and position your smartphone.

4. Open the GemLightbox app.
